In 1999, our founder Hartmut Ottliczky identified a critical challenge: traditional Kanban systems offered by industrial distributors could only address a fraction of customer needs effectively. The industry often hindered itself—distributors were reluctant to collaborate across competitors, and their focus remained on trading items rather than optimizing processes.
Driven by the vision to bring transparency and flexibility to procurement, el/ka/sy® (electronic kanban system) was born—the first Kanban system designed to manage all items and suppliers for customers. This innovation disrupted traditional systems and set a new standard in C-parts management.
